Icelanders

There were nine Iceland Gulls in the fields around Loop Head yesterday.  Here is a small selection of some of the birds including one in Kilbaha Harbour.

Iceland Gulls

I was working in east Cork Harbour today and ended up at the end of the survey at Ballycotton Harbour.  There were two Iceland Gulls off the Pier along with one winter plumaged Guillemot in the harbour.

Iceland Gulls

Passing back through Dingle this afternoon on my way back from a job at Dunquin, I had a quick look off the harbour to see if there were any gulls about. There were two first-winter Iceland Gulls loafing around the pier in misty wet rain and very dull conditions.  This pale bird spent some time flying up and down the pier while a darker first-winter bird made a brief appearance and disappeared just as fast.
