Glaucous Gull

This 2CY Glaucous Gull was at Quilty Beach yesterday afternoon. It seems to have some blood stains or damage done to the base of the bill. My first Glauc of this year. White-winged gulls have been very scarce in the west of Ireland so far this winter.

Sabine's Gull

I went west to Seafield and Qulty beach this evening. There was still a fairly stiff North-west wind and seabirds were milling about far out past the islands.  At Quilty beach there was a juvenile Sabne's Gull and two Grey Phalaropes flew over the sea not too far offshore.

Common Tern

Six Common and two Arctic terns were feeding along the beach front at Quilty this evening.  These were my first for this year of both these species and they fed actively on small fish in the shallows along the seashore.

Little Gull

This second year Little Gull was feeding within a group of Common and Arctic Terns along the beach front at Quilty village.  Not great shots, the bird was a small bit distant.
