I made a quick run around the west Clare coast last weekend taking in Loop Head, Kilkee and ending up watching Waxwings again in Ennis town on my way home. The weather was rough with strong north westerly winds and heavy showers at times. Few birds were passing the Bridges of Ross, two white winged Gull, an adult Iceland, one first-winter Glaucous and a Jack Snipe were the only birds of note at Ross Bay. Few birds were out feeding except for Oystercatchers in some fields and beaches and at Kilkee I caught up with the immature/female Black Redstart. On the way home 18 Waxwings were at Carrig Dubh, Ennis. Here are a few shots.
