A comfortable stay overnight in the Amaya Hills Hotel and early the following morning I was joined by Ashan Fernando my bird guide for a walk around the hotel gardens and nearby hill roads. There were lots of great birds which included common species like Spotted Dove, Yellow-billed Babbler, lots of Hanging Parrots, Crimson-fronted Barbet, Oriental White-eye, Asian Palm Swift, Crested Serpant Eagle, Common Iora, Plain Prinia, Indian Robin, Black Bulbul, Sri Lanka Swallow, Small Minivet, Orange Breasted Green Pigeon, White-bellied Dronga and Brown Skrikes to mention a few.
After lunch we visited Kandy for a walk around the city and a cultural tour of the Temple of Tooth and a walk through the Botanical Gardens. In Kandy I added a few more species of birds like Tickell's Blue Flycatcher, Purple and Loten's Sunbirds, Green Warbler, White-breasted Waterhen, Indian Cormorant, Oriental Magpie Robin, mammals and Flying Fox bats or Fruit Bats.
